Summerville High Celebrating Again
Tuolumne, CA – The Connections Visual and Performing Arts Academy on the Summerville High School campus has captured a California Distinguished Schools Award in the high school category.
Principal Michael Gibson says the school decided to enter the competition this year because of its maturity and its highest-in-the-county Academic Performance Index (API) score of 841. The school was also judged on academics, involvement within the community, the parent adivsory board or oversight committee, extracurricular activities, curriculum matching state standards and enrichment activities.
Gibson added this marks the first time the 125 student academy has won this award.
But it´s not the first award of the year for Summerville High. This spring Wayne deGennaro´s Academic Decathlon Team won the state title for its classification in Los Angeles.
