Two Female Fire Fatalities Remain Unidentified

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — According to a neighbor, a grandmother and a mother were killed this morning in a fire that quickly destroyed a doublewide mobile home located at 16740 Chicken Ranch Rd.

The neighbor, Josephine Barberini, says she heard yelling and screaming early this morning and noticed out the window that her neighbor´s doublewide mobile home was completely engulfed.

Barberini immediately called 911 and then repeated that call several minutes later. She stated that Sheriff´s deputies and paramedics arrived before the firefighters from Columbia and the Tuolumne County Fire Department.

While she would wave and say hello, Barberini, who just moved to the Mother Lode from San Francisco, did not know the names of her neighbors. She added that it was a grandmother and her adult daughter who made their home next door. The mother has a 16 year old son, Cody, who apparently was the individual who was yelling for help.

Lt. Dan Bressler of the Sheriff´s Department has stated that two bodies and the body of a dead animal have been discovered. He added that the department is treating the area as a crime scene until evidence proves otherwise.

No positive identification of the two victims has been released by authorities.
