Murrison Refuses “No Tax Pledge”

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA – It’s often a rite of passage for Republican candidates for office to sign the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge."

The American’s for Tax Reform group led by Grover Norquist ask candidates to sign a pledge that they will not raise taxes.

Tuolumne County Supervisor and District 25 Assembly candidate Teri Murrison has a different approach.

"Let me be clear, I am not going to Sacramento to raise taxes, period," says Murrison. "But I refuse to sign a pledge that comes from Washington outsiders or Sacramento insiders."

Murrison adds, "I pledge to the people of the district, that I will not vote on taxes until I ask for their advice and counsel. Their responses will guide my decisions."

District 25 Assembly candidates that have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge include Bill Conrad, Kristin Olsen and Kurt Vander Weide.

It has also been signed by gubernatorial candidates Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner, along with Assemblyman Tom Berryhill.
