Sponsored by:

Twain Harte, CA– A disturbance at the Twain Harte Post Office this week lead to one man’s arrest.

According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the post office Monday at around noon. The suspect, 32-year-old Evan Jacob Smith of Twain Harte was reportedly running in and out of the building, screaming at customers and partially disrobing.

Sgt. Neil Evans and Deputy Mike Pershall arrived at the scene and contacted Smith who admitted to being under the influence of alcohol but denied taking any other drugs.
Smith was arrested but resisted being placed in a patrol car. This resulted in Deputy Pershall receiving a small cut to his finger.

Once inside the car, Smith kicked out one of the rear windows and had to be placed in restraints to prevent more damage and injury to himself.

It was later determined that Smith was also under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked at County Jail on charges of vandalism, public intoxication, resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
