Roundup Queen Weekend

Sonora, CA — A new Mother Lode Roundup Queen will be crowned this weekend. 2012 marks the 55th year of the Roundup, which is coming up May 12 and 13.

Saturday morning is the Queen Horsemanship competition, which will begin at 10am at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. The event is free and open to the public. The pageant itself will begin at 5pm Sunday at the Sonora Elks Lodge. There is a $10 entry fee and Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

This year’s candidates are 16-year-old Trisha Berg of Sonora, 16-year-old Taylor Howell of Sonora and 18-year-old Layne Olsen of Soulsbyville. They are judged on things such as overall performance at the pageant, horsemanship and ticket sales.
