Shermatine Tells About More Bodies

Sponsored by:

Death row inmate Wesley Shermantine is admitting that he knows where additional victims are buried, according to an Associated Press report.

In a death row interview at San Quentin State Prison with the Stockton Record newspaper, Shermantine said there were additional victims buried in Modesto, Stockton, Ripon and Milton. The AP adds that he also apologized for taking years to reveal where he disposed of the bodies of two of his victims.

Shermantine and Loren Herzogg became known as the “Speed Freak Killers” for a series of murders in the 1980’s and 90’s, primarily in the San Joaquin Valley. Bone fragments from at least two victims, Cyndi Vanderheiden and Chevy Wheeler, were also discovered in San Andreas. Over 1,000 bones were located a few days later buried in a Linden well. A multi-agency investigation is ongoing.
