CHP Tracking Truck Theft

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The CHP is investigating a big-rig and two trailers that vanished overnight and the owner is asking for your help to find them. Sonora CHP reports the Red 1991 Freightliner semi with Garcia Trucking on the driver’s door and the two attached trailers were parked in a lot on Jamestown at Racetrack Road at around 8p.m. Thursday night. When the owner returned Friday morning around 9a.m. they were gone.

Officer Nick Norton says this is unusual for this area, “It’s not something that we have a huge issue with here in this county. I mean it is something that does happen in other areas where it’s easier to hide a big-rig. You know they’re not small, they’re hard to hide, so it has to be somewhere they can take it if they’re going to strip it or try and change stuff with it to use it for their business.”

The Truck Owners Mark and Stephanie Garcia say the rig is their livelihood. Stephanie says, “This is our business, our source of income. We just basically got our business back up and running. My husband’s been very sick for a while and now it’s stolen basically. So we are asking if people could keep their eyes open. It seems like someone might have seen something. It’s a huge thing driving down the road.”

The CHP is asking if you have any information on the stolen truck and two trailers with the word “Viking” across the back doors to call 209-984-3944. Norton says the estimated value of the truck and trailers is around $50,000.00.
