Downtown Sonora Utility Work May Slow Traffic, Service

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Motorists will want to plan ahead in order to dodge two work zones that will be setting up for the week beginning Tuesday in downtown Sonora.

According to Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD), crews will be making water service improvements from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at two locations as they upgrade service laterals and install more new remote read water meters at customers’ residences. Tuesday, the crews will focus on Short Street. The work will shift to Sonora Avenue, where upgrades are scheduled Wednesday through Friday. According to TUD officials, customers may also experience small water service delays as the crews switch each house, one at a time, over to the new meters. TUD also requests motorists to exercise caution while traveling through the work areas for the sake of the crews as well as for personal safety.
