Free Sand Now For Tuolumne Residents

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County residents can now shovel free sand at seven spots — just bring your own bags and shovels.

County residents in need of flood control measures during this most recent stretch of wet weather may shovel as much sand as they need at any of the locations. Just be aware, county officials say, that because the sand is dark it might appear to look more like dirt.

The locations, all outside fenced areas, are easily accessible. They are as follows:

— Columbia Airport (10723 Airport Road), at the end of the parking lot on the right hand side

— Jamestown Yard (18188 7th Ave.)

— Big Oak Flat Yard (11240 Wards Ferry Road)

— Tuolumne Yard (18870 Birch St.), at two locations

— Near the corner of Birch and Baker streets

— On Chestnut St, at the end of the street; behind the fire house
