Ever Drive And Text?

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – Millions of motorists do and the CHP wants to make you aware of the dangers.  April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. To drive the point home, the CHP is asking motorists this question.  If you were driving blind for three seconds, what could you hit?

CHP Spokesperson Nick Norton says,   “The average time spent reading a text or typing a text is approximately 4.6 seconds.  Just 3 seconds of texting while driving at 65 mph is the equivalent of driving 100 yards, or the length of a football field, blindfolded.”

In addition, April 2 – 8 is California Teen Safe Driving Week. One reminder it is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to be driving and using a cell phone, even with hands-free devices.
