Sonora, CA — Some of the names have been released in a head-on crash that killed a Twain Harte woman. The accident happened Friday at 5:20 p.m. on the Highway 108 Bypass near the Peaceful Oak Road ramps.

The CHP reports a 55-year-old Twain Harte woman was driving a 2008 Honda eastbound at about 50 mph when for unknown reasons the car went off the roadway and hit the guardrail. The woman then swerved over the double yellow lines and into the path of an oncoming 2006 Dodge pickup truck. The driver of the truck, 56-year old Douglas Coke of Twain Harte was going about 55 mph and slammed on his brakes, but the two vehicles smashed head-on. Both vehicles went off the north shoulder of the highway and the truck over-turned.

Douglas and his passenger, 49-year old Pamela Coke of Twain Harte both suffered minor injuries and complained of pain. The CHP is investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the wreck. The name of the woman who died in the crash has not been released pending notification of family.

Traffic was backed up for about 10 minutes as crews cleared debris from the area. Click here for a map of the accident site.
