Study Hopes To Dig Into Autism
University of California, Davis researchers have launched several studies to examine the roots of autism. Over the next few years they hope to determine if the disorder is caused by environmental factors combining with genetics.
Researchers plan to analyze blood, hair and urine samples from children and their families to determine the presence of toxic substances.
The Contra Costa Times reports researchers will look at the children’s exposure to vaccines that have a mercury preservative. They will also look at exposure to pesticides and other chemicals.
Autism is a severe developmental disorder that undermines a child’s ability to interact with the world. There is no known cure.
