Low Voter Turn Out Predicted

The Field Institute is predicting a record low turnout in Tuesday´s election, despite the millions of dollars parties are spending on last minute get-out-the-vote efforts.
The institute expects eight and a half (m) million of the state´s 21 and a half (m) million eligible voters to actually vote. That´s an historic low of 39 percent of eligible citizens, or 55 percent of registered voters.
It´s less optimistic than last week´s projection by Secretary of State Bill Jones that about 58 percent of registered voters – about 8.8 million people – will cast ballots.
