The California Supreme Court upheld a $290 million verdict against Ford that stemmed from a 1993 rollover accident in Ceres.
The wreck killed three members of the Romo family and injured two others. A jury awarded the Romos $290 million, a judgment Ford says is the nation’s largest personal injury award ever upheld on appeal.
A state appeals court ruled that Ford engaged in “despicable conduct,” and the family’s attorney says Ford knew the Bronco “would crush flat as a pancake in a rollover.”
Ford says it plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
