Simon Attempts To Ignite Campaign

Nominee for governor Bill Simon told fellow Republicans Saturday that a fighting spirit can pull out victory in the election just 38 days away. Trying to ignite his troubled campaign at the state Republican Convention in Garden Grove, Simon declared: “The fight is here, the fight is now, and it´s a fight we are going to win together.” Hundreds of Republicans cheered and whistled their support as he invoked the party heritage of Ronald Reagan and President Bush. Simon said the Republicans are united in a solemn mission to remake California into the Golden State. He said of his opponent Democratic incumbent Governor Gray Davis: “This state just can´t afford four more years of Gray Davis. I don´t think we can afford four more minutes …”
