Simon Shows His Tax Returns

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon is letting reporters review some of his personal income tax returns, a reversal from his previous position. Simon is allowing reporters to review hundreds of pages of documents, dating back years. His campaign says no one will be allowed to copy the documents.
The decision to allow a look into the millionaire´s personal finances comes a week after the Internal Revenue Service claimed that Simon´s investment firm took advantage of tax shelters that might be illegal. Simon has been dogged about his personal income tax returns since Governor Gray Davis released his returns and challenged Simon to follow suit. Simon has said he believes tax returns are a private matter.
