Weekend Storm Brings More Snow

Sponsored by:

A storm has left up to six inches of snow in the Sierra Nevada, and more snow could be on the way for Christmas.

National Weather Service forecaster Rudy Cruz says a string of fast-moving systems is expected to bring a chance of snow to the Reno-Tahoe area off and on all week starting Tuesday.

Cruz says a storm should bring one to two inches of snow to upper elevation areas and higher amounts to the mountains on Christmas Day. After skies cleared this morning, chain controls were lifted on Tahoe-area highways, including Interstate 80 over Donner Summit and U.S. 50 over Echo Summit.

No major accidents were reported. The storm brought rain to the valley.
