The state Assembly has approved a bill to increase oversight of large information technology purchases by California State University.
Assemblyman Manny Diaz authored the bill after a critical audit that found the cost of the CSU´s computer system had grown from $440 million to $662 million. The audit also found that the university system had not done a cost-benefit analyses before the purchase.
Diaz says the system isn´t integrating the 23 campuses´ student records, personnel data and financial information, as it was designed.
