Truck Inspections On-Going At Golden Gate Bridge

Sponsored by:

More trucks are being checked on approach to the Golden Gate Bridge.

The California Highway Patrol is taking a closer look at trucks approaching the Golden Gate Bridge. A spokesman with the California Highway Patrols says about 150 to 200 trucks are being stopped every eight hours on the southbound 101. Most of the stops include questioning the driver and checking the truck´s paperwork.

A spokesman says the increased security is not because any specific threat, but is part of what the spokesman terms the patrol´s “ongoing effort” to protect against possible terror attacks.

The CHP says the additional checks are not causing traffic delays because the trucks are taken off at an approach to the bridge.
