Early Intake Fire Update

Fire Update. The fire this morning burning Highway 120 and Cherry Oil Road was first reported at 10:26 a.m. this morning and is burning in the Early Intake power house region around 15 miles east of Groveland on the Stanislaus National Forest.

US Forest Service spokesman Pat Kaunert says right now the fire is about 15 to 20 acres in size burning in grass, brush and oak in an area where the “fire can spread rapidly.” Kaunert says right now there is no eminent threat to communities, but he adds there is a possible need for fire crews to go in and protect the power house and facilities in the Early Intake area.

Firefighting aircraft from the Columbia Air Attack Base are also battling this fire.

Officials say they are sizing up this fast moving situation. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
