U.C. Merced Partners With Great Valley Center
Merced, CA — The newly opened University of California Merced is planning to join forces with one of the state´s largest regional centers.
Officials with the Modesto-based Great Valley Center say the partnership will allow the non-profit organization to take advantage of the University´s advanced research capacity and intellectual base.
University officials say the two institutions share many of the same goals, such as improving the region´s economy and educational opportunities, leadership development and coordination of regional projects.
Officials say the Center´s network of community leaders, non-profit groups and businesses will partner with faculty members to take advantage of the university´s research.
Meanwhile, the center will continue to raise funds for its work. Two major foundations have pledged significant transitional support as the partnership begins.
