Sonora, CA — The Forest Service is inviting the public to celebrate it´s Centennial event Saturday at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora.
Organizers say the event will commemorate the agency´s history and highlight the many connections between the community and the National Forests. The event will feature music, live theater, and many demonstrations including firefighters in action, and live forest animals.
The public is also invited to visit the newly launched Stanislaus National Forest Centennial website. Full-color limited edition prints of an original oil painting commemorating the Forest Service Centennial, as featured this summer at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C., will also be available for sale at the event. The event is free and starts at 10:00am.
