Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Columbia College will be hosting a forum this weekend to explore the issue of global warming.

The featured speaker for the event will be Doctor Philip Duffy, Research Scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Associate Professor of Natural Sciences at the University of California Merced.

Civic Engagement Coordinator Jim Toner says the discussion will explore the issue from many angles.

Toner says some of the topics to be examined will be whether global warming is caused by natural occurences or man made events, or if it even exists at all.

Duffy is expected to present scientific evidence that pertains to weather changes and how global warming affects water availability, air quality and human health.

The forum is scheduled Friday night from 7:30 to 9:00 in the college´s Dogwood Theatre. Admission and parking are free.
