Columbia, CA — Fundraising efforts are underway at Columbia College to create an endowment for the campus library.
The fund drive was kicked off with the Lakeside Jazz and Wine festival Saturday afternoon with the goal of raising $500,000 to support the library, which college officials plan to name after long-time faculty member Jon Hagstrom.
Columbia President Jim Riggs says fundraising efforts will continue on an annual basis. A president´s council has been set up to give special benefits to those who donate at least $1000 a year.
In addition, a program has been set up to recognize donors by naming certain parts of the library, such as the book holdings, study areas and demonstration room in their honor.
Riggs says the college also plans to adopt a legacy program for those who wish to leave property or other assets to the college in their wills.
Anyone interested in donating can call the president´s office at Columbia College at 588-5115.
