High-Speed Pursuit Nets One Arrest

Sponsored by:

A high-speed pursuit Tuesday morning resulted in one suspect arrested for Sonora Police.

Chief Mace Mcintosh says the traffic stop began normally, in front of Gus´s Restaurant on Mono Way. The suspect´s vehicle, a white Chevrolet Blazer, stopped on the side of the road, until…

“It sped off and continued eastbound on Mono Way to 108, running red lights, passing on the right, crossing over the double yellow lines, passing unsafely,” McIntosh described.

In fact, Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Deputies and California Highway Patrol units joined in the pursuit as well, as the vehicle headed up to the Twain Harte area.

“They turned onto Highland and then stopped, and then the driver and passenger ran on foot,” McIntosh said.

The driver has been identified as Dean Bennett, an at-large parolee wanted for over a year and a half. Bennett was seen going into a residence, says Chief McIntosh, and was arrested without incident thanks to an observant citizen who contacted law enforcement.

There´s no ID yet on the passenger from the vehicle. The investigation is continuing.
