A recent assessment from 2019 to 2022 of 8th grade skills in the basics of education, shows a decline of 26% in math skills and a drop of 31% in reading proficiency. Being unable to read at grade level means that all other learning will suffer as well.
According to reports, more than 2,600 officials at agencies from the Commerce Department to the Treasury Department, during both Republican and Democratic administrations, disclosed stock investments in companies while those same companies were lobbying their agencies for favorable policies. That amounts to more than one in five senior federal employees across 50 federal agencies that were reviewed.
We fully support Tuolumne County Supervisor Kirk’s recent position that the County take no action on the toothless, time-wasting so-called “Climate Action Plan.” The city should shelve their “Plan” as well. The unattainable goals and onerous mandates that Gavin Newsome’s policies have forced on Californians so that he can claim green street cred for his near-certain Presidential campaign, will only further cripple the state’s economy and quality of life. Requiring everything to be run by electricity in a state with ongoing brownouts is, in itself, ridiculous.
