Jamestown, CA -- A 38-year-old woman is critically injured after a motorcycle accident on Highway 108 yesterday.
CHP says Diana Nichols of Dunlap was riding a Honda Shadow motorcycle westbound near Donnell Vista Point just before 4:30 in the afternoon when a black bear walked onto the highway directly into her path. Despite taking evasive action, Nichols apparently was unable to avoid hitting the bear and was thrown from the motorcycle onto the highway.
Nichols was transported by Tuolumne County Ambulance to the heliport above Clarks Fork, before being Medi-flighted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
CHP says she was later transferred to Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto with extremely serious injuries.
