Albini Injuries Caused By Propane Explosion
Sonora, CA — A 20-gallon propane tank that caught fire caused another tank to explode like a bomb blowing Jim Albini out of his pickup truck Tuesday afternoon at his Phoenix Lakes home.
The popular Sonora High School ceramics teacher continues to be listed in critical condition at the U.C. Davis Medical Center Burn Unit.
Romey Jones of the C.D.F.-Tuolumne County Fire Department has yet to determine the cause of the fire. But he does relate that the fire caused the second propane tank to explode like a bomb. The truck and the house were both totally destroyed.
Jones adds that a short time ago another propane tank exploded in the same manner traveling approximately 150 feet in the air tearing off a tree limb. There were no injuries in that incident.
