White Pines, CA — An abandoned campfire is being blamed for a fire that charred some land near White Pines Lake Tuesday.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection says someone got past the gate on Sierra Pacific Industries´ land near the inlet of the lake.
They left their campfire, which escaped and burned a quarter acre of brush and timber.
CDF and Murphys Fire District crews responded to the call at 3 p.m. and put out the blaze by 8 p.m.
