Measure P Along With State Propositions Fall In Tuolumne County
Sonora, CA — Measure P and two state propositions were soundly defeated Tuesday evening in the Tuolumne County voting results.
Measure P, which called for a one-half of 1% sales tax increase, would have raised $2.7 million this fiscal year and $3.1 million for the 2007-2008 fiscal year for the Sheriff´s Department and county fire agencies. The total revenue would have been equally split. This measure was defeated by a 54-45% margin.
Proposition 81, calling for the selling of $600 million in bonds for the construction and modernization of libraries, was soundly defeated 66-33%.
Proposition 82, which was earmarked for free pre-school for all four year olds in the state, went down to a resounding defeat, 65-34%.
