Bomb Scare Sunday Night Closes Sonora Wal Mart

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Wal Mart has opened its doors today after a bomb scare forced an evacuation Sunday night.

The Sonora Police Department says they received a call from an employee at the store, reporting a suspicious metal box in the phone booth near the entry doors.

The Calaveras County Bomb Unit was called before 9:00pm to examine the box, which had wires connecting it to the phone.

Police reports indicate that the box did not contain explosives and the area was cleared by 11:00pm.
