Valley Springs Vegetation Fires Nearing Containment

Valley Springs, Ca — Firefighters are getting a handle on the vegetation fires near Highway 12 and Double Springs in the Valley Springs area.
The largest of the two is now estimated at 25 acres, and according to CAL Fire, it is near containment. The second has been contained at 1 ½ acres.
For approximately two hours, Hwy 12 was shut down at both intersections of Hwy 26 due to smoke and equipment in the roadway. It re-opened shortly after 5pm.
Tonight´s scheduled prescribed burn in Valley Springs has been postponed until further notice.
