Calaveras County To Pay Moreno Party $89,300 In Settlement

San Andreas, Ca — Calaveras County has released details about the settlement agreement with outgoing Community Development Director Stephanie Moreno.

The County will supply a payment of $89,300 to “The Mayall, Hurley, Knutsen, Smith & Green Trust Account” on behalf of Moreno and her attorney Mark Adams. The document states that the consideration set forth constitutes full payment for all of the Plaintiff´s alleged claims against the County. Moreno will also receive all accrued leave and benefits in which she is entitled by law on the effective date of her resignation.

The settlement was approved by the Board of Supervisors 4-1, with Tom Tryon casting the lone vote in opposition.

“I am strongly opposed to the terms and conditions that are associated with the letter of resignation,” says Tryon. “I thought the citizenry would find the terms and conditions to be unconscionable and offensive. For all the 24 years that I have been there, we have never had a payment like that for a simple resignation.”

A statement released earlier in the week by Board Chair Steve Wilensky reads, “Ms. Moreno came to the County during a period of considerable upheaval and organizational change in the County´s land use functions. Her service in the face of multiple challenges was marked by the highest levels of energy, diligence and ingenuity.”

Moreno´s resignation is effective 5pm, August 1st.
