Stockton, CA — Conservation of energy is a key term this week for utilities and CAL ISO (Independent System Operator) with triple digit temperatures.
Nicole Tam of P.G.& E. states the best way in which to conserve energy is to set the air conditioning thermostat at 78 degrees or higher (health permitting) and keep doors and windows closed when operating your system. Use ceiling and floor fans whenever possible in lieu of air conditioning. Only use applicances and computers outside of peak hours (3pm-6pm).
Currently CAL ISO does not anticipate any power supply shortages this week but peak demand could approach the record of 50,270 megawatts set on July 24, 2006.
