Vehicle Burglaries On The Rise In Sonora
Sonora, Ca — Over the past three weeks, the Sonora Police Department has seen an alarming increase in the amount of vehicle burglaries.
According to Lt. Mark Stinson, over 20 break-ins have been reported over that period which is well above the average. The Department says many of the incidents have been “crimes of opportunity” where owners left the vehicles unlocked. Other incidents have been where valuable items, such as laptop computers and wallets, were left in plain view.
Sonora Police would like to remind everyone to always lock cars or trucks. Even if you are running into the store for a minute, it only takes someone a second to open a car door and go through belongings.
If you see a suspicious person hanging around parking lots then you should contact the Police Department. The Police Department can be reached at 209-532-8141.
