Murphys Irish Day Celebration Coming Up Saturday

Murphys, Ca — Celebrating the town´s Celtic Heritage, the annual Murphys Irish Day celebration will be held Saturday.

Presented by the Murphys Business Association, festivities on Main St. will begin at 10am and continue until 5pm. More than 100 vendors will be offering fine arts and crafts, and numerous things to eat and drink along the street.

Live entertainment with a decidedly Irish theme will be presented throughout the day.

Performers will include the Pilot Peak Barnstormers, Sequoia, the Tommyknocker Cloggers, Matt Cullen, White Hackle Pipe and Drums, Karl the Celtic Fiddler, the Mountain Mischief Jugglers and the Calaveras Community Band.

The Murphys Irish Day Parade will begin at 11am and will make its way down Main St.

Four high school students, who symbolize the future leaders of Calaveras County, have been selected as the Grand Marshalls. They include Courtney Melencheck, Sarah Pesout, Hillary Watts and Josh Hecocks.
