Bombay Restaurant Fire To Be Investigated

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Sonora Fire Department and CAL Fire will join forces to investigate the cause of the Tuesday morning Bombay Restaurant fire.

Once the fire was extinguished S.F.D. Captain Todd McNeal commented that the fire’s origin was on the second story of the building. The entire building was moved several decades ago from its original location near what is now the Heart Rock Café.

Response included resources from Sonora City Fire Department, Tuolumne County Fire Department, Columbia Fire, Twain Harte Fire, Angels City Fire and CAL Fire.

The Koto Restaurant next door to the Bombay suffered serious fire and water damage especially when viewed from the rear of the building.

No restaurant employees, members of the family living in the upstairs apartment or firefighters were injured.

S. Washington St. between Church and William was closed for approximately seven hours due to the fire, equipment and mop up operations.
