Smoke In The Air Affects Motherlode Pets

Sponsored by:

The smoke that is now lingering over the mother lode is affecting the local area’s pets.

Tuolumne Veterinary Dr. Alan Rubenstein was KVML’s Wednesday "Newsmaker of the Day".

Several cats have asthma and any contaminants from dirty air, complicate their lung and/or pulmonary disease.

Animals that have heart worm disease, which is endemic throughout the motherlode, have several problems breathing and the smoke just makes it worse for them.

Bringing pets indoors to get out of the smoky air helps. If you notice your pet still having problems or appearing sick, please call a local vet.

Dr. Alan Rubenstein is with Tuolumne Veterinary Hospital, located on Tuolumne Road in Sonora.

The "Newsmaker of the Day" is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:46, 7:46 and 8:46am.
