Boy Scout Supporters Gather For Breakfast
Sonora, CA — Supporters of the Boy Scouts gathered Friday morning for the 5th annual Friends of Scouting Breakfast at the Sonora Best Western Conference Center.
The keynote speech was given by professional speaker and scout supporter John Drebinger, who used magic tricks and guest interaction to help promote the merits of scouting.
“Honesty, integrity and all of the things in the scout oath and law are the things this country was built upon,” says Derbinger. “They are critical for the youth of today to continually learn.”
The breakfast is an annual fundraiser for the Greater Yosemite Boy Scouts Council and helps support scouting programs.
“We are up in membership this year,” says Council Executive Director Bob Dees. “Our Council has been named a ‘Quality Council’ now for 11 of the past 12 years.”
A Color Guard at the breakfast was presented by Pack #570 from Columbia Elementary School. The invocation was delivered by local scout Kevin Huffman. Other speakers included event chairman Dick Pland and Boy Scouts District Director Bill Heneks.
