Martin Moves Ahead In YCCD Race

Sonora, CA – After tabulating most all of the provisional ballots from the November 2nd election, Lynn C. Martin has moved ahead in the Yosemite Community College District Board of Trustees race.


Martin has passed election night front runner Richard “Duke” York and currently leads by 82 votes. Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties have tabulated all the provisional ballots. Martin received 6,386 votes in Tuolumne County and 2,018 in Calaveras County. York received 6,440 votes in Tuolumne County and 1,857 in Calaveras County. In Stanislaus County, where the election’s office is still counting the remaining provisional ballots, Martin received 271 votes compared to York’s 296. Around 900 provisional ballots still need to be counted Stanislaus County, but only a small percentage of the ballots are from residents that live in the YCCD Area 1 jurisdiction.


Currently the overall count is Martin-8,675, York-8,593, Ted Morgan-5,378 and Carolyn Lott-3,418. Martin is a retired high school coach and teacher, who later spent the final 19 years of her career as a counselor, instructor and advisor at Columbia College.
