Friday AM Accident Victim Update

Modesto, CA — The 16 year old who was critically injured in the Friday morning single vehicle accident in Calaveras County remains in an intensive care unit.

At approximately 1:50am the C.H.P. received a call regarding a rollover accident on French Gulch Rd. south of Darby Lane. The 16 year old female driver (she took her parents 2007 Toyota Sienna without permission) picked up five friends and was traveling between 70-80 mph when she lost control and rolled the vehicle three times.

According to the C.H.P. report the critically injured teenager from Douglas Flat was the only one of the six in the 2007 Toyota Sienna not wearing a seat belt … she was ejected. She remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital in Modesto.

Others in the vehicle included a 19 year old male from Copperopolis, two 16 year old males from Murphys and a 16 year old female from Murphys.

No names are being released as this accident remains under investigation.
