Body Found Near Creek Identified

Sonora, CA– The body of a man found on the Fourth of July in a Sonora creek has been identified.
According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, the man is James Gutto. An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be head trauma.
Gutto’s death is considered accidental. He died after falling approximately 25 feet down a steep embankment and landing on a rock.
Gutto’s body was found at Elsie’s Pool in Sullivan Creek located off Mono Way.
