Central Sierra Arts Council Announces Name Change
After nearly forty years, the Central Sierra Arts Council is ready for a name change.
Connie O’Connor, Executive Director for CSAC, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
“In order to better reflect exactly who we are, we are announcing a major name change,” said O’Connor. “Beginning soon, we will be known as the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance.”
It will take a just a few months for the name change to take effect, as paperwork is currently being compiled and submitted, bylaws need to be drafted and the overall re-branding will take some people work in order to be updated.
Meanwhile, O’Connor is inviting the public to this Saturday’s Annual Celebration of the Arts in Schools- Student Exhibit and Concert from 1:00 through 4:00 PM.
Students from grades K-12 will show their talents in a number of media. Prizes are given to students in a variety of categories.
The opening reception features performances by: The Fiddle Gang, Poetry Out Loud finalists, performances by vocal students and professional musicians from our community. Light Refreshments will be served. This annual event is made possible through local grants.
The campus is located on Barretta Street in Sonora, in the old Parent Nursery School Building on the north side of the Dome.
