Heavy Field Of T.U.D. Candidates

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — As the the filing deadline came to a close this afternoon, two additional candidates joined the field seeking a seat on the T.U.D. Board of Directors.

There will be three seats open on the November ballot, so the top three vote getters will be declared the winners. We reported previously that all three incumbents filed the needed paperwork to run for re-election. In addition, attorney David Axelrod filed the paperwork on July 29.

Before the filing deadline closed at 5pm today, two additional candidates joined the field. They include Bob Rucker, who is a longtime District Director for Congressman Jeff Denham. In addition, Barbara Balen is hoping to re-join the board, after serving from 2004-12.

Today was also the filing deadline for other special districts and school boards. In races were incumbents are not seeking re-election, however, the deadline is extended to next Wednesday. Races will only go to the ballot in November if more candidates apply than there are seats.

Candidates that will appear on the ballot for California Assembly and US Congress were determined during the June Primary election. Running for local Assembly District Five are Republican Frank Bigelow and Democrat Robert Carabas, and running for US House District Four are Republican Tom McClintock and Democrat Robert Derlet.
