Valley Fire Destroys Over 500 Homes

Middletown, CA — While much of the focus in the Mother Lode is on the Butte Fire, the Valley Fire burning in Lake, Napa and Sonoma counties is now 67,000 acres and 15% contained.
At least one person has tragically died in the fire, and others are unaccounted for, according to state officals. 585 homes have been destroyed, and an additional 9,000 are threatened. Â The fire has already done extensive damage to the towns of Middletown and Cobb. 2,362 firefighters are currently on scene.
The fire ignited Saturday at 1:24pm. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
