Debris Burning Suspended

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — A sign that the hot summer months have arrived, burning is no longer allowed within the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras jurisdiction.

All outdoor burning is suspended, effective eight o’clock this morning. CAL Fire has transitioned into summer staffing levels, and all aircraft is available and ready at the Columbia Air Attack base.

CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Chief Josh White says, “As the days get longer, our outdoor activities will increase. Everyone can help reduce the threat of wildfire by remaining extra vigilant of how activities are being done. TCU is staffed and ready for rapid response to serve the community.”

Outside burning will reopen sometime in the fall, depending on conditions.
