Crews Getting A Handle On Power Fire

Sponsored by:

Pinecrest, CA — The Power Fire is 75% contained at 1050 acres. Forest Officials report they should have containment on Tuesday around 6pm as helicopters and hand crews continued making significant progress. Forest Officials say crews are working in steep and rugged terrain making conditions treacherous for fire fighters. Burned trees and green trees structurally compromised by the fire are creating dangers as they fall or drop limbs unexpectedly.

There are 570 fire fighters battling the blaze and that means visitors to the forest will see plenty of action going on in and around the fire scene. Two service roads are closed. They include 5N95 at Beardsley Road and 5N02 at Highway 108. Those roads are only open to fire fighters and logging trucks. Forest Officials caution visitors to drive slowly and be careful when burning campfires especially in making sure they are put out completely.

Resources include: 13 hand crews, 37 engines, 5 helicopters 2fixed wings, 14 water tenders and 3 dozers.
