Traffic deaths and drunken driving arrests in California were well below the counts of a year ago, during the first 12 hours of the long New Year´s holiday period.
There were four traffic deaths reported in California from 6 pm Friday to 6 am today. A year ago there were ten deaths during the same period.
Drunken driving arrests are significantly lower than the start of the holiday period a year ago. There were 283 arrests statewide since 6 pm last night, compared to 758 in the same period a year ago.
