The Bay Area Rapid Transit system is calling off the dogs.
BART drew a flood of criticism when BART police and a U.S. Customs drug sniffing dog patrolled several trains, leading to the arrest of 14 people for carrying small amounts of drugs.
A storm of protest arose as people wondered what business the transit system had inspecting its patrons for contraband.
