Interior Say California Must Reduce Dependence On Colorado River

A federal Interior Department official says California must meet a commitment to reduce its dependence on Colorado River water over the next 15 years.
Bennett Raley is brokering a water-use deal between California and six other western states that is supposed to be finalized next December.
He tells the Colorado River Water Users Association conference in Las Vegas today that failing to reach an agreement and meet conservation goals by 2016 could devastate the Golden State.
